1st Shop of Coffee Prince – [커피프린스 1호점 ]

Well, this has to be the first K-drama that has me this obsessed. I’ve rewatched it many times and STILL not sick of it…

Synopsis: Go Eun Chan dresses as a boy and works at the Coffee Prince Shop. Manager guy who, at the start, doesn’t like her, begins to realise his feelings towards her.

– 1st Shop of the Coffee Prince (KRN): ROMANCE/ COMEDY

Stars: Yoon Eun Hye, Gong Yoo

Eps: 17

Subs: WITH S2

Comments: Cute little drama… A pretty prdictable storyline but still, I enjoyed it. I mean, the plot is nothing new, girl dresses as a guy to defend her love for him, but this had to be a new way of treating the story. Unlike other romance dramas, each episode had a different story behind it. The theme song: Lalala, it’s love by The Melody…really cute, matches the drama well…

“Coffee is my radiant star….” [well, this is what I think the ending song says…]

Hana Kimi Jap SP – October 12th

•September 30, 2008 • 2 Comments

Last summer’s “Hanazakari no Kimitachi e” drama series is returning for a one-episode special. Starring Horikita Maki, Oguri Shun, and Ikuta Toma, the show was very popular, especially among female viewers. It averaged 17.3% ratings, with the final episode reaching 21.0%.

According to Fuji TV, the special will take place half a year after the series’ end. With Osaka Gakuen getting ready for an upcoming Valentine’s Day event, Sano (Oguri) and Nakatsu (Ikuta) reflect on the final week of their last summer vacation, which falls into the timeline of the original series between episodes 7 and 8. The special also includes a graduation scene and addresses the relationship between Mizuki (Horikita) and Sano.

Filming begins on Wednesday, but no broadcast date has been specified yet.

Well, with the SP set to air in less than two weeks [[OCTOBER 12TH]], Hana Kimi fans must be ecstatically counting down the days. I know I am.

Don’t worry about it…it’s a HYD thing…

You’re a serious die-hard HYD Japan fan when:

1. Amongst your friends, whom most are HYD fans, you’ve often talked/speculated/analysed every episode in such language which is normally used in a medical assessment report.

2. You know what happens in each episode, like the back of your hand. If you knew math as well as you knew HYD, you’d probably get 100% in each exam.

3. You have the theme songs on your iPod and continously listen to them on loop. You probably know the words too.

4. You have watched the series at least three times through and you can keep on watching it and never get sick of the plot.

5. You yelled at your TV/ computer screen when Umi-chan was being such a b…err cow, by telling Domyouji that she was going out with him (well, you probably already know which episode I’m talking about bt it’s Season 2, Episode 10). You probably also hated this character’s guts.

6. You often visualise yourself in HYD.

7. You have posters/ CDs/ DVDs/ pictures/ photos of the cast and selected HYD screen shots of you’re favourite moments.

8. You’ve yelled “ARIENAITTSU-NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

9. You’ve watched other dramas, compared them, but NOTHING beats HYD.

10. You’ve read the above and you know, if not everything, for the most part, it’s all true.

Korea’s Hana Yori Dango

Asian Triology: Third time’s a charm!

That’s the tagline.

So first, it was made into a Japanese movie.

Taiwan stepped in and created “Meteor Garden”, with the story spanning 4 seasons.

Japan outdid them with “Hana Yori Dango” and managed to fit the story into 2 seasons (total: 20 episodes), a SP and a final movie.

Next, Korea is set to remake the story into 24 episodes (70 minutes each).

So. of course, Korea has really large shoes to fill. The Japanese version is incredibly popular in Korea (and the world) already.

The time comes to select a cast.

Who will play F4?????

Amongst the 50 billion speculations and rumors over the net, I don’t know what to believe.

“They” said that the cast listing would be released in July. Errrr, it’s September now…

The most talked about rumored member is SS501’s Kim Hyun-Joong who will supposedly play Hanazawa Rui. However, he now seems to be the front-runner for the LEAD of Domyouji Tsukasa.

Well, whoever it is, I’m there for the third remake of arguably the BEST love story ever!

Proposal Daisakusen – Operation Love [プロポーズ大作戦]

Proposal Daisakusen – Operation Love [プロポーズ大作戦]

Genre: Romance, Slice of Life

Synposis: Iwase Ken realises a little bit too late that he really loves his childhood friend, Yoshida Rei. But, she’s getting married to another man. Ken watches the slideshow and really wishes he could go back and fix the past. As asian drama goes, a FAIRY (who lives in the church) appears and grants him a second chance to go back and try to win her heart.

– Proposal Daisakusen (JAP)

Stars: Yamashita Tomohisa (Yamapi), Nagasawa Masami

Eps: 11 + SP

This was probably the best Yamapi drama. I’ve watched him in Kurosagi and Code Blue, but I thought that PD had to be his best acting. I enjoyed the storyline of this drama and the way that the drama-makers treated the idea of a second chance at life/love. The SP had to be one of the best SP’s ever. The ending of the series definitely did not end right but the SP really finished it off properly. The theme song, 明日晴れるかな (Ashita Hareru Kana), just matched with the overall theme of the drama.

Favourite Moments:

– Episode 2 has to be my favourite. Coming in close second would have to be ep 4- the second button!!!!

I have to say, I thought KEN was going to get married!!! I mean, he was wearing a much better suit than in the series (vest!!!). When he picked up Rei and she said she was going to get changed in the limo, I thought: “Eh? How can you put on a WEDDING DRESS in such a small cramped place????” But no, turns out to be Tsuru and Eri’s wedding….

Every drama addict has THE list of their favourite dramas. Let me share mine:

1. Hana Yori Dango 1 & 2 (JAP)

2. Proposal Daisakusen (JAP)

3. Hanzakari no Kimi Tachi e (JAP)

4. Nobuta wo Produce (JAP)

5. Last Friends (JAP)

6. Fated To Love You (TWN)

7. The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince (KRN)

8. Gokusen 1, 2 & 3 (JAP)

9. Kurosagi (JAP)

10. Goong (KRN)

This list is purely my opinion. Feel free to dispute anything.

1. ISWAK (TWN) – I know… I know. Lots of people LOVE this drama. Well, I (SORRY SORRY) hated it. I mean, it went for 30, one hour long episodes! TOO LOOOONG!!! I watched the first three and the last three and I still understand the story behind it, but why drag it out for ages…

2. Zettai Kareshi (JAP) – well, normally I’m a huge fan of jodrama, but this one…”sigh” I had high hopes for this drama when I read the synopsis etc. But when I actually started watching it, it seemed fake. Aibu Saki didn’t catch me as the right actress to play Izawa Riiko.

3. Devil Beside You (TWN) – the first sequence, with Rainie and Kigone running into each other’s arms with such FAKENESS, I gave up and threw up in my mouth. Sorry again to those who liked this drama, I know it has a huge following…

4. Brown Sugar Machiatto (TWN) – well, it looked really funny, but I didn’t get past the second episode, despite watching on fast forward…

well I can’t think of any more….hmmm
